The Australian contingent to the 1967 World Scout Jamboree at Farragut State Park in Idaho spent the night of August 29th at Camp Wolverton. Since all of the Wolverton campers were in the backcountry, the visitors had plenty of space to camp. Four Wolverton staffment met the visitors' busses at Ash Mountain and gave them a running commentary while driving up to camp. We fed them dinner and breakfast and provided sack lunches. We took them to the Sherman Tree and showed them the sights around Giant Forest. The next morning they travelled north and left the park on Highway 180. We discovered that although we all spoke English, communicating was a challenge. A great time was had by all.

G'day, I was one of the Leaders on the Australian Contingent in 1967 and it was a voice from the past to receive your email today.  It left you in July and must have reached Royce Harvey just before he died a few weeks ago. I remember well the time in Sequoia National Park and the hospitality.  We were looked after so well during our time in the US. We had a big re-union of the boys who went to the Jamboree in 1992 - 25 years later.  It was great to see them again, we had nearly 90% of the 150 members, and to see how they had developed.  The guest speaker at the dinner was one of the boys in my Troop, Jonathan Chester, now living in the US and a quite famous author, speaker and photographer. Another of the boys in my Troop was until recently Chief Commissioner of Scouts in New South Wales and now it is 19 years later again.   I am 81 now and an Honorary Commissioner. I still do all the catering (but not the cooking!) for our Mt Keira Scout Camp for all the Adult Leader Training Courses - about 20 to 30 weekends a year. I was the Regional Commissioner for Training for many years and a 4 beader and my wife reckoned I spent more time at the Camp than at home!   Another old Scouter and I are the Region's Grant Application Committee and we spend a pleasant Thursday afternoon each week checking on what Grants are available and then doing the Hard work of writing the Applications.   http://members.iinet.net.au/~imaginarygoddess/mtkeira/  is a link to the camp which is perched halfway up the coastal escarpment.  It is only about 15 minutes from my home. We think it is one of the most beautiful camps in the world.  My daughter developed the website..   Well that is about it for now. All the best, David
